ROCHESTER DOULAS

Fatuma

I will provide culturally sensitive care and support that resonates with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Salaam! Everyone, my name is Fatuma Ahmed. I am a blessed mother of three children 16, 8 & 6. A Co-founder and Co-director of Pamoja Women Organization located in Rochester MN. I believe that I bring a wealth of cultural knowledge, understanding, and empathy to my work. I provide personalized care and support to individuals and families during the transformative journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. I am a very passionate, knowledgeable, and compassionate doula who will bring cultural awareness, advocacy, and support to individuals and families.

I will provide culturally sensitive care and support that resonates with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I am a firm believer that representation matters, and having doulas who share similar racial or ethnic backgrounds can help create a more inclusive and supportive environment during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. It's all about ensuring that everyone feels seen, heard, and supported throughout their journey into parenthood!

As a Doula, I plan to assist the expectant mothers have a better birth experience by advocating their wants and needs.

Hello, my name is Fatuma Omer. I am a mother to three wonderful boys. Motherhood has been a roller coaster journey with its highs and lows but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am originally from Somalia and have been in the States for over 20 years. I speak fluent Somali and English and can understand Urdu. I worked as a community health worker before deciding to settle down into being a full-time mom. Coming with a background in the healthcare field and delivering 3 children in the hospital, it has shown me the shortcomings of advocacy for expectant mothers especially those from minority backgrounds. As a Doula, I plan to assist the expectant mothers have a better birth experience by advocating their wants and needs.

In addition to physical and emotional support during labor, my role is also to act as an educator and advocate for the birthing woman and her family

Married for over a decade and a homeschool mama of five, I value a holistic approach to birth and family planning. I am a certified birth doula through DONA and I feel honored to be able to share my expertise with women and families in Minnesota and virtually around the world. In addition to physical and emotional support during labor, my role is also to act as an educator and advocate for the birthing woman and her family. I am trained and certified in physiological birth. I am also a noted champion and voice for Black Maternal Health Justice.

A few of my favorite things are family vacations, reading books on parenting, and all things fall season. I also love sharing a special connection with birthing families and watching their little ones grow up after serving them as their birth doula.
