HCMC ON-CALL PROGRAM
FOR INDIVIDUALS DELIVERING AT HENNEPIN COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER (HCMC)
Everyday Miracles is thrilled to partner with Hennepin Healthcare at HCMC to offer on-call doula support to birthing families.
Established in September 2019, the program provides patients with the opportunity to request a birth doula to support them during their labor. If one is available, a doula will provide the birthing person (and their partner or family members, if present) with physical and emotional support during labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period. While they are not a medical care provider, a doula can make suggestions for comfort and coping during labor, including helping the birther navigate different positions, practice breathing exercises, and use relaxation techniques. If you are birthing at HCMC, talk to your provider about having doula support at your birth!
NOTE: As an on-call program, we cannot guarantee a doula will be available during your specific birth. If you’re interested in more comprehensive doula support that includes prenatal and postpartum visits with your doula, check out our Core Doula Program (for individuals with Medicaid (state-sponsored) insurance) or Karma Doula Program (for individuals with private insurance).
