TWIN CITIES DOULAS
Scroll through to learn about our somali speaking doulas that serve clients in the Twin Cities/Metro area.
Complete our request form.
If you have a request for a specific doula or suggestions of ones you feel may be a good fit, we are happy to check with their availability for your birthing time. However, as a small nonprofit, we do not have the capacity for clients to interview several doulas, then select one from that process. Your placement will be determined by your response to the Doula Confirmation Form, your attendance at classes, and doula availability around your estimated due date (EDD).
While we will do everything possible to place you with a doula, making a request is not a guarantee that we will have a doula available at your birthing time!
Hello, I am Hodan. I reside in the vibrant city of Minneapolis, where I have cultivated a deep passion for supporting women during one of the most transformative moments of their lives - childbirth. Fluent in both Somali and English, my journey into the world of childbirth support began with a proud personal experience, where I stood by the side of two dear friends of mine during their childbirth. Witnessing the beauty of a new life entering the world sparked a deep passion within me for providing unwavering support and advocacy for women in labor.
Education and advocacy are the core of my beliefs, and being a doula allows me to combine these seamlessly. I strongly believe that every woman, regardless of their strength, requires a strong system during childbirth. I am dedicated to ensure my clients feel empowered and nurtured every step of the way. Even the strongest of women need a support system and I am honored to be part of that system. Together, we can make the journey into motherhood a deeply meaningful and positive experience.

My journey as a doula is to assist in bringing amazing life into this world. Being part of this form of joy and encouraging and supporting a healthy pregnancy is truly a great privilege.
Hello! My name is Sadia, and I am a family educator at an organization and soon to be a doula. I’ve been a certified medical assistant for thirteen years. I am also certified in childhood development and soon to be in nutrition as well. I am a wife and a mother of six beautiful children—three boys and three girls. My journey into becoming a doula all began during my pregnancies, which all came with many complications that could have been avoided with the right medical attention. But what truly inspired me to initially take the steps into becoming a doula was what I had seen while working as a family educator. I had seen many soon-to-be mothers who were also minorities face the same challenges I had faced as a birthing person of color.
Through my shared experiences, I was able to help guide many of these soon-to-be mothers in their birthing process. While doing this, I started to believe that I could help make a difference and help many more expecting parents while advocating for better treatment for pregnant women of color and all in the medical system. I believe that as a doula, I can strive to help meet these goals for all by being there for expecting mothers when they have questions and guiding them through the good and bad during pregnancy.
